I’m thinking it probably generates fewer. FWIW, I think the default choices are good (love morph), but no dials is going to get pretty limiting pretty quickly. I’d rather have a fuller library, just with good defaults.

It may not inherently make it better (for some meanings of "better") but it certainly makes it more secure and more stable. Those are attributes which I would value very highly in coreutils.

And that point was when the public sector finally abandoned IE6. It has all been peachy since then.

When working in the public sector in 2016 I had a person seriously annoyed with me for dropping IE6 support when all their libraries (as in buildings with books) were still on it.

Healthcare industry here. I couldn't drop IE6 until COVID.

Lots of doctors offices and others were still running it. But when the virus slashed our staff, we finally got permission to drop the extra work of supporting IE.

So, if I can fake being under 18 then all these AI bots will now leave me be, right? This sounds like a winner.

"saying technically true things in ways to mislead large numbers of people" is pretty much the textbook definition of marketing in general. I'm not sure why one might expect the marketing for gaming generally or this game in particular to be any different.

There are a many successful games companies and marketers in the games industry that have enough respect for others to not mislead like this. Many many marketing promotions go to significant effort to show how a thing actually works. There is a great interview with the Battlefield Bad Company people pre-release showing off destructible buildings where they go into what it is and what it isn't, and explain the trade-offs they had to make and how it makes the experience immersive.

It's fascinating the different opinions people have about the AI future. For me, it feels like a breath of fresh air. Like I've been fighting my computers and gadgets and appliances my whole life to get them to do what I want. AI proposes a future where the entire layer of frustration disappears between what I want, and getting it. This is basically a utopia for me, but I have seen many with similar positions to you. I hope you do not take my comment as disrespect, because it's not. Everyone has a different version of utopia.

I suspect your opinion might overlap with the preference for a manual transmission, older engines which can be easily maintained, Linux, "dumb" phones, and other products which can be easily repaired by you. I share a certain fondness for all of these, but would gladly sacrifice them to slash the frustration they entail.

True. I'd be very annoyed if I had anything mission critical on github. While we have everything in the cloud, we do actually self-host that part.

An alternative set of ideologies is part of what makes it ... an alternative!

I remember in 2024 passing over codeberg as the host for some of my personal projects because of the uptime. I don’t think Codeberg’s uptime has gotten any better but despite that it’s getting a lead over GitHub now.
