This is a widly broad statement. Most rich countries excluding the US and Canada make wide use of garbage incineration. It can be done in a very clean manner that disturbs the environment less than a landfill. Are there physical impediments in the way? Are there breaks in the path of flow? Is the environment already used to this amount of water flowing through it suddenly (the evidence of life everywhere says no so no surprise a ton of life gets lost when it suddenly blows through.)
Such a simplistic reduction also does serious disservice to the structural geologists, soil analyst techs, and others in the geological profession whose work focuses on preventing exactly this sort of situation. It's more complex than "Volume and speed."

models aren't able to run that fast right now on our consumer/prosumer hardware. M5 Max for example has a memory bandwidth of 600 GB/s. a 5090 has 3x that, so running the same model on a 5090 is that much faster (provided the model is within 30GB).
running a bigger model on an M5 Ultra is still much slower than running it on a Blackwell chip with sufficient vram, CUDA being a major difference. if apple can bridge this gap, interesting things will happen... and just imagine if M7 Ultra has comparable speeds to Blackwell (or even Rubin)!
