Probably that they used dynamic workflows to run long agent sessions to do the conversion, like Anthropic did when they ported Bun from Zig to Rust. Minimize Human in the Loop workflows, maximize Agents in the Loop workflows.

It’s the adverb of agentic, which is an adjective to describe something as having agency. I get it was a snark on the word, but it’s actually a legitimate pre-ai term.

Did you just wake up after a multi year slumber? Agentically means using tools. It means the workflow isn't predefined. It also spawned subagents.

Nah. Reduce is less performant and less readable than a regular loop. In my anecdotal experience, only people who want to appear smart and minimize the number of characters prefer reduce.

I don't know about JavaScript, but those statements are definitely not universally true in other languages.

Reduce definitely does not reduce character count. It's the loop-hacking that does that.

However, I agree it might be less performant, and it's a certain kind of thinking that isn't quickly grokked (and doesn't have to be). I deliberately tried to write my story about the interview so as to make it sound like there's positives and negatives to both positions expressed. _I_ have a preference for that functional style, but I know it's not for everyone. That's totally fine.

I'd like to have one of these devices once the prices get a bit more normal. I remember paying 400€ for an iPhone 4 when it came out, a flagship phone at the time by all metrics. Adjusted for inflation, that's about 600€.

Flagship prices have now reached the 1000€ mark, with marginal upgrades, and in many cases actual downgrades.

There is no world in which I can justify paying 2x-4x the flagship price for a device fulfilling a fundamentally similar purpose.

For a different comparison, a 14" MacBook Pro costs that much.

There's an RFC or two to spawn threads so I'm looking forward to that. The current way of workers + messages is tedious as hell.
