Every government has taxed its population, and past governments often used real violence to collect them. The level of taxes we see currently is abnormal and abusive imo, but taxing in general isn’t.

Frankly I just don’t care that much, I hate Google and llms have mostly replaced the search but after work I want to spend time with family and do hobbies and degoogling is a nice to have that is nowhere near the top of my priorities list.
If only. A bad tenant with a dog can do an obscene amount of damage to a property. The people who leave a place with torn up walls and urine+feces throughout the carpet tend not to be the kind of people who will gladly pay extra fees for the damage they caused.
The landlord can sue them, but that's a slow expensive process and there's a good chance they will never recover enough to pay for the damage.
If you buy like carpet you could reasonably expect to replace it in 10-15 years, and if you allow pets you are more likely to need to. However getting 15-20 years out of it instead without pets is probably more like double-dipping than a subsidy as replacing it on the correct schedule should already be factored into the rent.
I always loved this as it seems to be a more modern way of interpreting the monad. Could it not be the case that all particles are actually just one thing that is not subject to time and that our reality is a snapshot of a matrix of its different potentials?

I use AI for coding every day and see it fail all the time, I'm a seasoned developer and early tech adopter just like everyone else on HN. I'm still very skeptical because of how often these systems just miss. It's gambler's ruin on a very large scale, we remember the hits and forget the misses.
What kind of metrics are you looking for? No one answers that question. It's like asking for clinical trial results about whether or not a parachute works and if you should use one when jumping out of a plane.
I don't expect AI to be perfect. Are people perfect? I leave room for corrections, but at this point they are usually minor and acceptable.
