I strongly believe, that the Fediverse has so much more potential, than being a Twitter-clone for nerds. Every website can become social. With WordPress or Ghost, that is just a plugin installation. But everybody keeps telling me: "Not another platform!" This is not yet another platform. If you rethink your company website and use a CMS that is as easy an fun to update as you social media app, you can everybody without a login. Pure web! And then you connect that to the Fediverse and people can subscribe, like, share and comment! Free audience added to the website you have anyway. My website shows you, you could every reuse your Instagram images on your website and reach people who are not on your preferred closed platform.

They work very much on compatibility, as that is required by and paid for by governments.

But same applies for M365. Good look opening a docx from Microsoft Word in their web app.

Interesting, on iOS it didn't even ask to use the location.

Do they do it because they can? Haven't used Android in a long time, but I had the impression that they also introduced finer-grained permissions, as opposed to blanket approve / deny everything the app asks for.

Android definitely has fine grained permissions. In fact my phone asks me each time a new app wants to use my location. Interestingly enough, I don't recall seeing a location prompt for Google's services

I don't recall a prompt for Apple's services, either. But you can revoke the permission, at least for some of them.
