The more times people equate age checks with ID checks the more likely that age checks will be ID checks. Like here, even though the diagram explicitly shows a check purely for age and the system the OS uses still an unknown and likely region specific.
In countries with public health care and social security, harm to the individual is direct harm to other taxpayers. You must wear seat belts or wear bike helmets because the rest of us don't want to pay your rehabilitation bills.
Could be. Pity there is no way to donate to Firefox. You can only donate to Mozilla for 'mission to keep the Web open and free', with an unknown fraction going to Firefox development. People have been deliberately disenfranchised from voting with their wallets for decades.
The last lifetime license I bought expired when the developer was bought, stopped releasing updates, and the software stopped working the next major OS upgrade. It is on a clock, and you don't know when it runs out so you can't value it.
At upload time? Or by every client at download time? Or just adhoc by random users?
This does sound like an excellent way of improving automated package checks, even if it does result in some false positives and false negatives. For all sorts of packages, not just code dependencies.
By security scanners, the moment a crate is uploaded to crates.io. The way forward here is dependency cooldowns enabled by default for ordinary users (and crates.io changed to show the old version until the new one is a day or two old). Essentially, security scanners get to vet a package for a day or two before ordinary users see it in everyday development.
In Victoria, today, you could get a $10,000 loan, install a battery in your apartment, and switch to a free power or VPP plan costing just $0.30/day after kickbacks, and have it all pay for itself in 5-10 years. The people being left behind are renters, so some incentive there still needed to get landlords on board. Or legalize and subsidize the wallsocket plugin batteries now on the market so renters can make their own investment.
The VPPs are interesting. Several of them available to join in my region in Australia. But update isn't as high as they like, as people don't like handing over control to the energy company (traditionally the enemy). And the reality that selling your power makes so little money that people would rather just hold onto it in case of blackout. There is also an option to do the equivalent to a VPP, using the live wholesale market prices (at least one retailer offers this). Batteries are now smart enough to download the market prices and predictions and make all the same decisions as a VPP provider would, but with any extra profit remaining with the customer.
Unfortunately most of the EVs already purchased don't have the electronics to support V2G. Newer Leafs and a couple of other brands do, but I think most models in most markets cannot support V2G.
